“I WON’T PLAY LIL K’s MUSIC AGAIN”- DJ Kofi

A popular radio personality and studio manager of Zaa fm, DJ Kofi, has refuted angrily that he is done and will never play songs of Lil K on his programme anymore. He says the musician lacks common etiquette and respect for the radio industry, especially in Tamale.
He said this on the weekend chart show on Zaa fm, a programme hosted by DJ Tell. DJ Kofi, made a comment that some artistes lack simple manners and respect and have forgotten how they got to the level they are now. Lil K’s name popped up when he was pushed to the wall.
An investigation gathered reveals that, DJ Tell was in the studio last weekend handling his weekend show when Lil K just bumped into the studio unwelcomed ordering him (DJ Tell), to stop using his name to promote a paid commercial by “Selection production”. DJ Tell told him that the advert was paid for and he has no right to eliminate any name from it. This created misunderstanding and quarrel for some time before Lil K left the studio.
Fans of the singer on facebook condemned the action of DJ Kofi when the news came out citing it as shear hatred for the dynamic singer whilst others thought otherwise supporting his actions against Lil K.
DJ Kofi in his surprised and angered mood said, he doesn’t understand why Lil K as an artiste could walk into a studio to interrupt their work causing nuisance as this is the highest cause of disrespect to them.”It’s high time these artistes show respect and humility, to people who contributed in making them who they are now. If you come to my work place to hurl insults, then what do you mean?”

D-Flex Releases Debut Album...As He Signs ¢50,000 Record Deal

The name D-Flex is a showbiz name of a young fine Hausa singer. He describes himself as a ‘hip life singer’. He is relatively a new artiste though he’s been around for some time now. Many wouldn’t readily make him out when his name is mentioned but face-wise he is fairly popular.

Real name, Abubakar Alhassan has couple of collaborations with some of the country’s mainstream musicians under his belt; talk of featuring on K.K. Fosu’s ‘Number 1’. He did a beautiful verse in Hausa on the song to make it more appealing and soothing to the ears.

There is no doubt that a number of Ghanaian musicians are forcefully changing their tunes to suit the latest Azonto dance craze that has been thrilling Ghana’s music industry. The hiplife musician, has said he won’t stop the move to release his newest album because of Azonto.
Hence he is releasing his latest album, titled ‘Paradise’, without any fear of being sidelined by the Azonto flavour which is also generating a lot of attention beyond the shores of Ghana.

“My album is unique. Anytime I do a song I don’t listen to it but my management listens to it and the engineers also listen to it. We have critics who also listen to the songs to make sure we do the right song. This album took me like a year. I go to the studio and they tell me no go back and do this. So when you listen to the album you will know why the album will stay. I am telling you, 2012 is for D Flex,” he added last Friday after an album release press conference at Afrikiko in Accra.

The 14-track album is titled ‘Paradise’. He explained that the title was influenced by the kinds of messages in the songs. “Somebody will be like it is like paradise in heaven but it is not that. If you get the album and listen, you will understand what I am trying to say,” he added.

Currently, he is releasing the album under Eastern World Entertainment and hopes to generate one of the biggest attentions in Ghana. Songs on the album are interesting including a gospel track, ‘Nyame Yaba’ featuring Erico, and ‘Oppollo’ featuring Stay Jay and Castro. He also featured Praye and KK Fosu.

D-Flex is not a new face on the music scene. He has been around for years and performed and shared stages with the likes of Ofori Amponsah, KK Fosu and Kofi Nti.

Now he is set to release his own album after several singles. D Flex will be embarking on a number of projects including a road safety project as part of his social responsibility. Currently, he also wants to encourage upcoming artistes to be steadfast in making their dreams come through.

Glo Ambassadors To Launch Group Album

As Glo Ghana prepares to go commercial, its star-studded group of music ambassadors have revealed that they would also be launching an album that would take the country by storm.

The album features all the Ghanaian musicians on contract with Glo, namely Asem, Tinny, Reggie Rockstone, Edem, Irene Logan, Sharifa Gunu, Kwabena Kwabena, and the senior musicians like Gyedu Blay Ambulley, Pat Thomas and Paapa Yankson.

Glo Ghana Boss, George Andah dropped the hint about the album during the launch of the Glo “Reserve Your Number Campaign”, and described the album as “five times bigger than any album ever launched in this country.” Even though he did not say, the album launch is expected to be one of the series of big events slated to mark Glo’s commercial launch into the market.

Some of Glo’s ambassadors who attended the launch lauded the deal they have with Glo and also praised Glo for selecting both young and senior musicians as ambassadors. Gyedu Blay Ambulley said he thinks Glo did a smart thing in selecting both young and senior musicians as ambassadors, unlike the other telecom operators who only focus on young people and fail to appeal to the elderly in society.

“We are a people of culture and so any company which fails to blend the old and the new is not being smart and I think Glo is smart on that count – we were selected by Dr. Mike Adenuga himself and I commend Glo for that,” he said. Ambulley said the blend of the old and new on that album will give it staying power, as well as wider appeal.

He also lauded the Glo deal as very good for him because it gave him cash to invest into his music and other things, adding that some companies think senior musicians like him are not making music anymore but that is a deception.

Pat Thomas said he is happy with the Glo deal because it improved his financial condition and boosted his business, even though it also denied him invitations to certain shows, particularly those sponsored by other telecom operators.

“But I am happy Glo is about to launch because it would mean more shows and more money for us – our group album will also yield revenue in sales and royalties for us,” he said. Paapa Yankson said even though his name Paapa Yankson is known among the elderly, not many of the young people know him but he believes his deal with Glo and the new album would be a platform to make him popular among the youth also.

Hip-life Grand Papa Reggie Rockstone was the first to have come out ahead of last year’s Christmas holidays to say that until the Glo deal, his bank account was almost empty but that one deal lined his pocked with enough money to build his popular self-named club, Reggie’s Place.

Reggie also lauded Glo for taking on senior musicians Ambuley, Pat Thomas and Paapa Yankson. “Glo has been generous and as they launch it means more money for us the ambassadors from shows and the proceeds of the album sale,” he said.

Asem, who sang on his “last song for the year” album that “Glo has satisfied me”, also told Adom News he has high hopes for the Glo album, adding that the money is good and he hopes all his other colleagues got similar deals because “it encourages you to pursue the career you love with passion.”

Irene Logan said apart from the Glo album, the contract also gave her time off the stage to write and record more songs, which she would start releasing and performing this year, particularly on Glo platforms.

“I have been off stage for a while but I can’t complain because it was a win-win situation for me as I got time to rethink my career and write more songs – so this is the year Ghanaians will hear more of me – lots of singles, good music and videos from Irene,” she said.

Meanwhile ace Ghanaian actor and Glo ambassador Van Vicker has hinted he will soon feature his colleague Glo ambassador and songstress, Sharifa Gunu, in a new movie he would be working on soon. Vicker said he has already featured Reggie Rockstone and D-Black in his movies and his next pick will be Sharifa.

Vicker described the Glo deal as fantastic and disclosed that he used a major chunk of his contract money for an education plan for his children. Sharifa said she would be glad to work with Vicker in a movie because she has been looking forward to
