Stop Denting the image of North-Linkz Entertainment- North-Linkz CEO

The Co- Chief Executive Officer of Tamale based event organizer, North-Linkz Entertainment, Yussif Abu Manan (D-Mezz) has asked other event organizers to stop denting the company’s reputation to Southern event organizers.
According to him, several Southern event organizers including NMJ International, Black Avenue Music and R2bees Entertainment have told him that some individuals claiming to be event organizers from Tamale have been calling them to black paint him (D-Mezz) and his partner, Mohammed Naporo (DJ Parara) just to convince the organizers to do business with them.
“ D-Black, Paedae and Nana, the Manager of NMJ have all told me how some event organizers have called them to paint me and Parara black to them, they have told me who they are but I’m not ready to mention their names. They said those people asked them to do business with them but when they [the southern event organizers] told them they had contract with us [North-Linkz], they told D-Black and co that we only organize flopped programmes. Tell me, apart from that unfortunate 31st December incident, which other programme have we done and it has flopped?” D-Mezz wondered in an interview with metromixdrive.blogspot.com in Tamale on Friday.
“See, all these people trust North-Linkz and no amount of denting statements made against us would prevent them from doing business with North-Links. It’s sad that people you have nothing against will go to this extreme, it’s sad” he said.
The furious event organizer who is also the Drive time host of Radio Justice 98.5, Tamale said those people use the unfortunate incident that happened on December 31st 2011 (Tamale Rocks show) to “spoil” the name of the company. He added that it was these same people who held secret meetings, planned and sponsored the destruction of the show which was the first of its kind in the Northern region.
D-Mezz opined that, it is such behaviors which are derailing the progress of the music and entertainment industry in Northern Gh, saying that “this kind of selfish and parochial interests are what is killing and dwindling the forward movement of this industry over here”.
“I will like to advise them to stop such acts because it does not only destroy the name of North-linkz but everybody in the industry including them and the North at large. These southern event organizers have called those people fools and idiots, so you see what I’m talking about” he added.
D-Mezz added that he has no problem with such people calling the southern event organizers to do business with them, but “to tarnish the image of me and my company is bad and unfortunate”.
He affirmed that no amount of such statement will bridge the relationship North-Linkz has with their “friends in the south”.
Will metromixdrive.blogspot.com were told who they were but can’t mention their names because D-Mezz hasn’t permitted us. But read below and you may just know who they are.
One of the people D Mezz is talking about is a DJ at a radio station in Tamale which does a lot of twi programmes. He is short and is a member of a popular music group in town.
The other one is an ex-army officer from Britain or so, he is the CEO of a very popular Music and Movie Production firm which name depicts the culture of the people of Dagbon.
The third one? An event organizer and a designer of posters for events.

Film Producers And Distributors Wage War On Piracy

Film Producers and Distributors
Film Distributors Association of Ghana, in collaboration with Film Regulatory Board of Ghana, has issued a directive to start clamping down on operators of video rental shops in Ghana.

This is part of the association’s ongoing antipiracy war to reduce the rate at which some unscrupulous persons are taking the law into their hands to pirate local movies.

At a press conference last week Thursday Maxlot Hotel in Accra, under the theme ‘War On Piracy’, the association said its members had not granted any video rental shop the right to rent their movies. As a result, any video rental shop that rented local movies was in contravention of Copyright Law, Act 6: 90.

The association will as such deal with the rental shop’s operators as the law demands. The antipiracy operation will be carried out by a special taskforce, assisted by national security forces in coming weeks.

The war is expected to also affect other sectors of the entertainment industry including persons who pirate movies on the internet, and dealers of ten-in-one pirated African movies. However, members of the association were reluctant to disclose techniques they would use in executing their antipiracy campaign.

Speaking at the antipiracy conference, old time producer of Hacky Films and president of the association, Asare Hackman, said piracy had been a canker for so many years. “We can only prevent it. Imagine a producer spends GH¢60,000 to produce a movie and he can’t get GH¢20,000. Pirates just sit in the comfort of their rooms, rip the movies and go to offices to sell and make money while we lack,” he lamented.

He also called on the general public to support their course by reporting individuals engaging in piracy activities. According to him, the association would make sure that the identity of whistle blowers was well protected.

He emphasized that the association would make sure that the right thing was done and that individuals should be mindful because they would not favour anybody.

He maintained that the loss they incurred as a result of piracy also affected the general economy; hence everybody should join the war on piracy campaign. At the ceremony were Socrates Sarfo, John Issa, Malik Maduakor and Mustapha Adams.
