Reggie Zippy Picks Up Music For Development Award @ GMA 2011.
Reggie Zippy has picked up an award at the just ended MTN Ghana Music Awards 2011. On Saturday April 10, 2011, Reggie Zippy took home the World Bank Music for Development Award with his music video, 'Victims'. The Accra Academy old student beat 3 other nominees to win the prestigious award. Speaking to Ghana Music.com, the manager of Reggie Zippy, Kevin Adisi said this- “As part of our vision to help address societal issues and also give back to the society, we did this song on broken homes. This song was drawn from the fact a victim of this circumstance once approached Reggie Zippy in 2009 to help her out with her school fees and provisions in that regard. Reggie was touched by this and with no hesitation asked team (DAK Records) to help her out. Now, the kid has completed Junior High and we are planning on helping her go higher heights. So, this song is an experience of the kid”. When asked whether this is the end of this campaign after Reggie Zippy winning the award, he added “Plans are underway to go on a nationwide tour through the vehicle of a musical concert to help raise funds, educate the public on the effects of broken homes and the causes. Outreach programs would be considered here as well. We don’t want the future of the younger ones to be put in jeopardy. By 2015, all things being equal and with the support of God, we would want to as part of our mission help 50 kids affected by broken homes realize their dreams (be it through schooling or helping them with a vocation). On behalf of DAK Records, we would like to say a big thank you to the World Bank, Charter House, OM Studios and Fiesta (Abraham Ohene Djan), MTN, the Media and all fans. Well now you know, the young handsome gentleman who is living in the U.K with his wife and 2 kids currently and can boast of having performed on high rated television and event shows like ‘Music Music’, ‘Sounds Splash’, ‘Ghana’s Most Beautiful’, ‘TIGO Festival Train’, Hiplife Festival in Italy, Holland and France is the winner of this year’s World Bank Music for Development Award. Congratulations to Reggie Zippy for winning this special award, which came with cash prize of Ghs 3000. Source: GhanaMusic.com.
