Asem
has made it on the ‘THIS IS AFROBEATS’ MUSIC Compilation which also
features some of the biggest superstars on the scene such as 2face,
P-square, Naeto C, and 9ice.
The music compilation is made by a
major pioneer of the new African music scene, BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Dj Edu.
From the streets of Lagos, Nairobi, Accra, the UK & North America
comes the musical genre that is young vibrant and fresh called "Afrobeats".
The
name stems from "Afrobeat" a powerful, raw and organic form of African
music made popular in the 70's by Fela Kuti & Tony Allen. "Afrobeats"
can best be described as the sound of young Africa incorporating modern
music & production techniques and fusing them with African sounds,
melodies and rhythms.
"Afrobeats" is definitely here to stay, as a
unique form of music full of colour, vibrance, independence with great
dance moves to go with it and a whole continent behind it. This is not a
Revolution. This is a Hostile Takeover.
Soon after the release
of the ‘SOLID GROUND’ album, Asem has taken to work on many projects as
well as working closely with the Ghana Library Board to improve reading
skills of children. |
